My hair falls between 2C and 3A. Which product should I choose?

Choosing between the Wavy Leave-In and Curly Leave-In can be challenging when your hair falls between 2C and 3A. Here are some criteria to help you decide:

  1. Texture and Wave Pattern:
    • Wavy Hair (2C): If your hair has loose S-shaped waves, appears flatter at the roots, and generally looks less voluminous, the Wavy Leave-In may be more suitable. This product provides lightweight hydration that enhances your natural waves without weighing them down.
    • Curly Hair (3A): If your hair forms more defined spirals, has more volume, and feels coarser, then the Curly Leave-In would be a better choice. This leave-in offers extra moisture and frizz control, ideal for maintaining the definition of tighter curls.
  2. Oiliness:
If your hair tends to get oily quickly, you might prefer the Wavy Leave-In as it has a lighter formulation that won’t add excess weight. If your hair is on the drier side, the Curly Leave-In may provide the additional hydration you need.
How can I tell if my hair is wavy or curly?

Wavy and curly hair can be identified by their unique patterns, texture, and even oiliness. Here are some key differences:

    • Pattern and Curl Shape:
      • Wavy Hair (Types 2A to 2C) tends to form loose, S-shaped waves. It may have less volume than curly hair and generally appears flatter toward the roots.
      • Curly Hair (Types 3A and above) forms tighter, more defined spirals or ringlets and often has more volume and lift at the roots.
    • Texture and Frizz:
      • Wavy hair usually feels smoother and tends to frizz less compared to curly hair.
      • Curly hair may feel coarser and is generally more prone to frizz due to its structure.
    • Oiliness:
      • Wavy hair tends to be more oily than curly hair since natural scalp oils can travel more easily down the hair shaft, keeping it naturally conditioned.
      • Curly hair, especially in tighter curls, is often drier because the curl pattern makes it harder for natural oils to reach the ends.
    • Shrinkage:
      • Wavy hair generally has little to no shrinkage when it dries.
      • Curly hair, especially tighter curls, will often shrink significantly as it dries.

Observing your hair’s behavior after air-drying, especially without added products, can help you determine if your hair is wavy or curly and tailor your routine accordingly.

Does your leave-in conditioner contain shea butter?

Yes, our curly leave-in includes a small amount of shea butter. This low percentage lets you enjoy its nourishing benefits without the potential drying effects of high shea butter concentrations.

Do Curlit products contain protein?

Our products are protein-free.

But I noticed hydrolyzed corn starch in the ingredient list. Isn’t that protein?

Hydrolyzed corn starch is included for its moisturizing properties, not as a protein source. It helps attract and retain moisture and it is not considered a source of protein.

Are Curlit products suitable for high or low-porosity hair?

Our products are formulated with a balanced porosity approach, making them versatile for all hair porosities. The texture is light enough to be absorbed by low-porosity hair but hydrating enough for high-porosity types.

My hair is damaged from heat and protein. Will your leave-in conditioner help?

While our leave-in won’t "repair" heat or protein damage, it can aid in styling and nourishing your hair during your transition. We recommend gradually trimming damaged ends each month to restore your hair’s health.

Do I need to use the gel?

If you have wavy hair (2A or 2B), jojoba oil may be sufficient for sealing in moisture. For tighter waves and curls (2C and above), gel is beneficial for added hold and definition.

Will the gel cause hair loss or dryness?

No, our gel is formulated without alcohol or drying agents, so it won’t dry out your hair. We use safe film-forming ingredients that provide a long-lasting hold without compromising hair health.

What’s the difference between leave-in conditioner and gel?

Leave-in conditioner is designed to hydrate, soften, and prepare your hair for styling. Gel, on the other hand, is used after applying leave-in to add definition and hold, helping your curls maintain their shape throughout the day.

Can I use the Wavy Leave-In before a blowout?

Absolutely! Our Wavy Leave-In is a fantastic choice to use before a blowout. It provides essential hydration that helps make your hair more manageable during styling. Many customers love using it prior to blow-drying because it combats dryness, leaving their hair feeling soft and easier to style while enhancing the overall look of their blowout.

Do Curlit products work on colored hair?

Absolutely! Our products are safe for color-treated hair, providing essential moisture while helping to maintain hair health. We use a conditioning agent, which is known for its color protection benefits, ensuring that your vibrant hues remain intact and your hair stays healthy and hydrated.
